Frequently Asked Questions

What is CNCBT (Cardio-Neuro-Cognitive-Behavioral Technique)?

CNCBT is an integrative, structured method that aligns the body (cardio), brain (neuro), thoughts (cognitive), and actions (behavioral) to help regulate anger, anxiety, and stress from the inside out. It focuses on improving emotional control by working with both physiological and psychological processes.

How is CNCBT different from traditional CBT?

While traditional CBT focuses mainly on thoughts and behaviors, CNCBT also emphasizes the role of the cardiovascular system and nervous system regulation. It integrates breathing, body awareness, and physiological calming with cognitive and behavioral strategies, making it more holistic.

What is the AARV(4) Emotional Regulation Model?

AARV(4) is the core skill framework of CNCBT. It includes four steps:

  • Awareness: Noticing thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in real time.

  • Acceptance: Allowing emotions to exist without suppression or impulsive reaction.

  • Relaxation: Calming the nervous system through breathing and body-based techniques.

  • Validation: Acknowledging and normalizing emotional experiences to support healthy action.

Who can benefit from CNCBT?

CNCBT is helpful for individuals experiencing:

  • Anger management difficulties

  • Anxiety and panic attacks

  • Chronic stress

  • Emotional reactivity

  • Relationship conflicts

  • Performance-related stress (students, professionals, military, athletes)

Is CNCBT evidence-based?

Yes. CNCBT integrates principles from cognitive-behavioral therapy, neuroscience, psychophysiology, and emotional regulation research. It is grounded in well-established clinical and neuropsychological practices.

How long does it take to see results?

Many individuals report noticeable improvements within a few sessions. On average, participants experience up to 40% improvement in emotional well-being after three sessions, depending on consistency and practice.

Can I use CNCBT on my own, or do I need a therapist?

You can start with self-guided tools, digital resources, and courses. However, working with a trained professional can deepen your understanding, personalize strategies, and accelerate progress.

Are CNCBT courses suitable for beginners?

Yes. Courses are designed for all levels and provide step-by-step guidance. You do not need any prior psychological training to start.

What types of resources are available?

You can access:

  • Digital worksheets

  • Guided exercises

  • Educational materials

  • Books by Dr. Richard Sohn

  • Self-guided emotional regulation tools

Can CNCBT help with panic attacks?

Yes. CNCBT is especially effective for panic and anxiety because it teaches how to regulate physiological arousal, reinterpret bodily sensations, and validate emotional experiences rather than fear them.

What does “Validation” mean in emotional regulation?

Validation means acknowledging and normalizing your emotional experience without judgment. It does not mean approving harmful behavior; it means recognizing emotions as understandable and manageable.
